The City of Plano, Illinois is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Wastewater - Level 1 in the Wastewater Department of the City's Public Works.

This entry level position works cooperatively with all divisions of Public Works, performing a variety of tasks. Primary duties within the Wastewater Department include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on City Wastewater and Stormwater infrastructure as well as operate equipment and complete tasks within the treatment facility etc. Applicant must be available for overtime and 24- hour call out duty to include city emergencies such as sanitary clean-outs, sewer backups and emergency maintenance as necessary.

The Wastewater - Level 1 position also performs a variety of tasks using manual labor and construction trade skills, operates one or more types of equipment including mowing tractors, dump trucks, snow plows, loaders/backhoes, camera trailers, vacuum trucks, and other duties as assigned. The work often requires extensive physical strength and endurance including the ability to stand, bend, push, pull, kneel, regularly lift more than 75 pounds at any time, occasional confined space entry, and to withstand exposure to the elements. The Wastewater - Level 1 position is selected by the City Administrator and hired after the City Council confirms the recommendation at a public meeting. After hiring, the Wastewater - Level 1 employee will be under the direction of the Superintendent of Wastewater. The position is full-time (40 hours/week), paid an hourly wage of $25.75 to $29.86 plus all legally mandated benefits (such as Social Security and Workers Compensation Insurance), and benefits defined as sick days, vacation days and holidays.
