Summary
The Technical Supervisor is to join the leadership team to assist with ensuring that the quality and accuracy of our technical services is achieved. This position will guide staff on technical interpretations, manage plan review and inspection operations. They will serve as the point of contact for concerns from clients, owners, contractors, and designers. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in the construction industry in code compliance or design who can provide technical guidance, conducts quality assurance reviews, manages training programs, and resolves complex structural or code-related escalations.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform commercial, industrial and residential building, electrical, energy and/or mechanical inspections.
Review construction plans for conformity to appropriate code(s) for discipline.
Supervise residential and commercial inspectors.
Respond to complaints and field inspection issues
Provide municipal and private industry code research and reports as assigned.
Attend project meetings about plan reviews or inspections.
Meet with clients and prospective clients as assigned.
Performs special plan reviews and inspections as assigned.
Attend meetings with clients, trade associations and represent the company as assigned.
Answer code questions and inquiries in writing and over the telephone.
Answer inquiries about inspections performed.
Maintain applicable certifications by attending training sessions as assigned
Perform off-site assignments.
Perform administrative duties for clients as assigned.
Monitor inspections for assigned staff.
Schedule daily inspection and vehicle usage.
Monitor progress of all large inspection and plan review projects.
Prepare progress reports as necessary.
Attend preconstruction meetings.
Perform status inspections.
Conduct performance evaluations for assigned staff
Approve time sheets
Document and conduct employee consultations as necessary.
During periods of heavy workload or slow periods, the employee may be required to assist in other areas. Such requests shall not be interpreted as a change in jobs or job description. The employee confirms that he/she is qualified and prepared to perform the duties described herein.
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Three to five years of demonstrated inspection/plan review experience.
- Current model code certification (ICC, NEC and related standards).
- Multi-tasking ability, flexibility and capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid, state-issued driver’s license.
- Comply with the certification requirements per company policy and as outlined by their supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
While conducting inspections an individual must be able to the meet the following minimum physical requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Able to walk on construction sites. This includes conducting inspections on uneven surfaces.
Able to climb ladder.
Ability to walk up/down multiple flights of steps.
Be able to stand for an extended period of time.
