Position Summary
The Senior CAD Manager's role is to be the thought leader, visionary, and executor in developing and implementing the virtual design and construction concepts and processes into enterprise-wide processes and systems to leverage consistent project workflows, deliverables, and project management. In collaboration with different disciplines within the branch, and in coordination with the Senior BIM Manager, develop virtual design and construction (VDC) execution plans for civil design to support the overall project execution. The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate infrastructure VDC standards development, implementation, automation, and enforcement on all related projects, files.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following list of duties represents a sample of work routinely performed by this role:
Leadership
Assess and evaluate the firm's current workflow and strategies to develop, and execute new and/or modified deployment strategies for VDC and Civil3D (including successor platforms and related applications) implementation efforts Lead the firm's Civil3D user group and ensure regular communication and coordination among Civil3D users Oversee the use of Civil3D software firm-wide, coordinating installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting all Civil3D installations as well as analyzing and solving Civil3D user issues Develop a work plan/roadmap for the development, implementation, and quality assurance checks needed for full VDC/Civil3D integration with all applicable company projects Report on the company's current and projected state regarding VDC/Civil3D implementationStandards
Support project start-up coordination, helping teams develop strategies for effective delivery of quality documents, and set-up each project, thereby ensuring that each one is set up correctly Support project teams by managing and creating/refining content library files and templates, refining and enforcing standards, and evaluating project models Responsible for refining and implementing VDC/Civil3D workflows and driving standard usage of VDC/Civil3D within and outside the firm Responsible for VDC/Civil3D standards development, refinement, implementation, and enforcement Creation and maintenance of the template files and styles to assure standards Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions Automate routines in VDC/Civil3D to support standards and productivity Assist in developing and enforcing VDC/Civil3D documentation and workflow process standards Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of Civil3D users to ensure standards are maintained in the creation of Civil3D modelsSoftware
Coordinate with the VP of Civil Engineering, CAD Specialist and Business Operations Director regarding the selection of VDC software products, including but not limited to licensing compliance, incorporating new version releases, maintaining legacy software, and customizing software for specific firm needs Manage the implementation of supporting software and plug-ins for VDC/Civil3D Stay informed on other VDC related products and evaluate new VDC related software and technologies Stay informed on best practices for use of VDC/Civil3D platformsSupport and Training
Support engineering staff by performing and/or supervising plan production or design work that involves a variety of civil engineering infrastructure including roadways, utilities (sewer and water distribution), drainage and stormwater management, and site development Ability to receive broad direction from engineering staff and understand the required tasks and subtasks to complete the project on time and within budget, with limited guidanceAbility to be flexible and accommodate occasionally aggressive project deadlines by working extra hours when neededProvide end-user leadership, software support, and troubleshoot problems as it relates to VDC/Civil3D production and design issues Conduct fundamental and intermediate training and continuing education on VDC/Civil3D processes and its new technologies Provide technical orientation/onboarding to new hires regarding VDC/Civil3D tools Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for VDC/Civil3D, bringing back best practices and disseminating the information to appropriate teams Assist project teams in VDC/Civil3D project setup, project work modeling and detailingAssist/create custom Civil3D templates and styles in response to project need Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team Coordinate needed hardware upgrades with internal IT staff and IT ConsultantCommunicate with subcontractors to receive, coordinate, and update all electronic modelsQualifications and Experience
Required Education, Licensure/Certifications, or Experience:
Must be able to demonstrate a mastery of Civil3D software, including its practical use and implementationMinimum fifteen years of relevant experience, with at least ten years of direct experience with plan production in a civil engineering consulting environment, including a minimum of five years in charge of managing and implementing AutoCAD or Civil3D standards, training and implementationExcellent communicator both verbally and written, organizer, and engager Initiate and enjoy independent problem solving and working in the gray areas in a thriving fast-paced environment Successfully incorporate feedback and manage multiple points of view Demonstrate excellent language and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and TeamsExpert level proficiency in Autodesk Civil3D Must have Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travelMust have valid driver's licensePreferred Education, Licensure/Certifications, or Experience:
Associate's degree in engineering technology, architectural engineering, or computer aided design and drafting or a similarly situated field of studyDirect experience in the implementation and integration of AutoCAD and/or Civil3D softwareProven experience in training, education or implementing Autodesk solutionsAutodesk Certified Professional in Civil3D for Infrastructure DesignWork Environment
This position primarily operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a quiet, climate-controlled environment. While in the office, there is no regular exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or heavy machinery.
This role also requires periodic travel to project sites, including locations undergoing renovation or active construction. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during these visits, depending on site conditions. While on site visits, an individual in this role will be required to work atypical hours at the request of the client or role demands.
Physical Demands
Sitting/Standing: This is not a sedentary role. This role requires the ability to be on your feet moving around a construction site for most of the day interacting with contractors, contractor representatives, and inspecting the construction work that is being performed.
Walking: This role requires the ability to move about outside in various geographic and building terrains to access a construction site to provide quality assurance services.
Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ladder climbing to inspect all aspects of building construction to foundations, crawlspaces, and roofs.
Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.
Seeing: This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction to ensure quality control.
Carrying/Lifting: This role requires lifting up to 30 lbs to transport technological office equipment, safety equipment, and other needed construction items to and from various workspaces.
