Report To: Foreperson, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds
This is a full-time, non-exempt position, Monday-Friday. May require flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, early mornings, and overtime as necessary.

Join the Frankfort Park District team as a Park Maintenance Worker II who is responsible for performing a variety of park labor duties to maintain and/or repair park properties and equipment. In addition to regular duties of the Buildings and Grounds Department, Park Maintenance Worker II may be responsible for supervising seasonal employees and overseeing their work. Salary range is $22-28 per hour. EOE
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Ability to operate a variety of equipment and vehicles such as weed eaters, blowers, commercial mowers, chain saw, small dump trucks, pulling trailers, brush chippers, snowplows, snow removal equipment, skid steers, forklifts, and end loaders or backhoes. Not limited to the above list but an example of equipment.
- Ability to mow agency green space, sports fields, and line marking on sports fields.
- Plant and trim trees and install and maintain landscape beds, native plants, turfgrass, trees, and shrubs within parks which may include a combination of planting, watering, and weeding flower and landscape beds; mulching in landscape beds and around trees; litter collection; mowing and trimming turf areas; power washing sidewalks and hardscape amenities, pruning of trees and shrubs; and pesticide application.
- Inspect playgrounds, do minor repairs, rake loose surfacing, pick up trash.
- Repair and paint benches, tables, roads, walks, trails, buildings and all equipment.
- Remove snow from parking lots, park walks, drives and ice rinks.
- Make and maintain seasonal outdoor ice rinks.
- Treat ponds and turf areas with herbicide.
- Assist with building, roof, door, window and electrical or plumbing repairs.
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the agency's safety program.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provides leadership and guidance to co-workers and assigned staff when completing tasks in assigned areas; instructs and advises on the technical aspects of work assignments.
- Assists with the repair, preventative maintenance, construction and development of parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, structures, paths, drainage, restroom and concession buildings, fleet maintenance and other property owned by the District.
- Participates in the preparations necessary for community events and other District activities. Includes setting up and taking down equipment for planned programs and events.
- Manages snow removal operations.
- Incorporates risk management practices in all work activities. Comply with overall risk management goals and objectives.

- Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate equipment.
Safety and Risk Management
Park Maintenance workers may work alone or in groups. Perform work at a moderate, constant pace, but it may vary slightly depending on the demands of the job required. The Park Maintenance II worker must work safely and professionally around general population/park patrons in public areas.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general agency and departmentalspecific safety rules.
- Use material-handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and or moving objects 50 lbs. or greater.
- Promptly report any work-related or patron injuries to supervisor.
- Attend required safety program and inservice education meetings.
- Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor.
Must be able to use personal protective equipment based on job specific tasks and may include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Safety goggles/glasses.
- Earplugs, ear covers.
- Appropriate work boot.
- Protective gloves.
- Helmets.
- Respirators.

Special Requirements
- Maintain a valid Illinois state driver's license and the ability to pass a defensive driving course as required.
- Operator's or Applicator's Pesticide License; or ability to past the exam within the first 6 months of employment.
- Rotates in on-call schedule which includes weekends and may require working special events, snow removal and other assignments.
- Evening and holiday hours may be required.
- Must have or obtain CPR/AED certification within six months of employment.
